Transcendance

I introduce my short animation 'Transcendance' - I made this in my final year at art college in Dundee, Scotland, in 2005. It took 8 months to make, and was done traditionally, and then scanned to computer, coloured in photoshop, and composited in after effects and premiere.

It was an exploration of human anatomy, in motion. Being a fan of martial arts, I decided to use it as my vehicle of movement, and the theme of inner struggle and all the Buddha stuff, well that was used to justify having a monk fight his firey inner demon. Please watch it, and give me your honest opinion! thanks! Ken :D

OH, and please also stop by my art blog: www.kennethanderson.blogspot.com

very very cool man. I really liked that you kept your clean up rough and loose. The airbrush effects combined with loose pencils are nice.

Hi Ken your showing us how well you know this medium, great camera work, choreography and animation,

The music sound very 80's but there's nothing wrong with that.

All by all great work!... and oh yes, thanks for popping by :)

although i saw your artwork and paintings before seeing this animation, i like this very much.
i like the rough line look that you have in the film, only comment i have is that it would have been nice to hear some sound and voice FX's it felt a bit unfinshed.
during my time at film school i certainly didn't have as much time to do a film as you, its a rough hard trip in doing an animated film from nothing to a finshed product.
congrats on this and the job! can't wait to see where you'll end up!

Its hard not to give a comment filled with praise when you see a film this long that someone makes entirely by themselves. Its my turn next year aswell.

im particularly amazed that you went through and coloured every frame of animation in photoshop? did you seriosuly do that? =P
im hoping i find an easier way.

very nice tho. i love the way you did what you want to do. and on top of it all the animation is lovely.
